Breastfeeding
Breastfed
is Bestfed!
The American Academy of Pediatrics are staunch supporters of breastfeeding.
Long before formula was considered a good idea, infants were nourished
by mama, and mama only. The advantages of breastmilk over any
other kind of nourishment are overwhelming. These
include health, nutritional, immunologic, developmental, psychological,
social, economical, and environmental benefits! Nursed babies
show a higher immunity towards illnesses, diseases, and allergies.
Nursing your child will create a close bond between you and instill
a trust and respect that is otherwise hard to reach. Breastfeeding has also been linked
to possible enhancement of creativity, critical thinking, and
other cognitive skills.

Good for Mama and Mama Earth, too!
Breastfeeding isnt only good
for the nursed, but also the nurser! It increases the level of
oxytocin, speeding up the post-partum healing process. Recent
research demonstrates that lactating women have an earlier return
to their normal weight, stronger bones post-menopause, and reduced
risk of breast and ovarian cancers. The average formula-fed baby
will cost her parents roughly $855.00/year on formula alone (see
our cloth diapering
info page to find out how natural parenting saves $$!).
